Meet the Therapists

Cara Czarnecki, LPC-S, MAAT

Clinical Director & Owner of Tabula Rasa Counseling

Cara Czarnecki, a trauma specialist based in Denver, CO, offers extensive knowledge working with trauma populations from all walks of life. With roots in Chicago and a Master's degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Adler School of Professional Psychology, Cara has worked in inpatient hospital settings and opened two private practice locations, the first in Illinois. She specializes in treating Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders, using integrative approaches to address old thought patterns, trauma responses, and relationship struggles. Combining Art therapy, parts work (ego states), and EMDR, she targets the root of what needs to be reprocessed to heal, while also offering Reiki to connect with the inner self and soothe the soul.

Cara's therapeutic approach is holistic and inclusive, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. She combines evidence-based trauma treatments like EMDR with creative modalities such as Art Therapy, fostering a safe and mindful space for individuals to express and process their experiences. With 15 years of experience, Cara works with individuals struggling with symptoms of C-PTSD and dual diagnosis, including OCD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Dissociative Disorders such as DID, while affirming Neurodiversity and LGBTQIA identities. She strives to create a compassionate and understanding environment where clients can unburden themselves from the heaviness of trauma and discover their true selves.

In addition to her clinical work, Cara is deeply committed to ongoing learning and professional development. She recently became trained in I-CBT to address the intersection of trauma with OCD, further expanding her toolkit to better serve her clients' diverse needs. Through her dedication, expertise, and integrative approach, Cara empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of trauma, fostering healing, growth, and self-discovery.

Whether you have been through therapy before and are ready for a new approach or you are new to therapy and want to dive in, I am here to help you find and explore the root to the problem. Instead of just treating the symptoms, lets find the cause and help you create positive coping and calming strategies as well as reprocess the thoughts that remain stuck in your mind, keeping you in a place of unhappiness. No one person will fit to one individual therapeutic approach. I use integration and creativity to fit to your needs and create a treatment that is right for you and your personal journey.
