EMDR Intensives
Focused Healing. Meaningful Change. Lasting Transformation.
Sometimes healing requires more than the traditional therapy hour. EMDR Intensives provide dedicated time to address trauma, grief, and life transitions in a concentrated format that allows for deeper processing and greater continuity.
Cara Czarnecki LPC, LCPC, MAAT, owner of Tabula Rasa Counseling and founder of the Sage & Soul Healing Collective, offers individualized EMDR Intensives for adults seeking focused and intentional healing experiences.
By dedicating extended time to treatment, many clients experience greater momentum and the opportunity to address root causes rather than simply managing symptoms.

Why Do EMDR Intensives Work?
Traditional weekly therapy can sometimes feel like starting and stopping the healing process. Intensives allow clients to remain engaged in the work long enough to process difficult experiences while maintaining safety, grounding, and support.
While healing cannot be rushed and every person's journey is unique, many clients find that intensive therapy allows them to accomplish in days or weeks what might otherwise take months or even years in a traditional weekly format. By reducing the time spent reorienting each session and maintaining momentum in the therapeutic process, intensives can provide both emotional and financial value.
Benefits Include:
-
Accelerated healing and symptom reduction
-
Greater continuity in trauma processing
-
More time for insight and integration
-
Reduced interruption between sessions
-
Flexibility for busy schedules
-
The ability to address long-standing patterns more efficiently
-
Fewer months or years spent revisiting the same material in weekly sessions
-
A more cost-effective option for some clients by concentrating treatment into focused blocks of time
EMDR Intensives may be beneficial for individuals experiencing:
-
Complex PTSD and developmental trauma
-
Recent event trauma
-
Complicated grief and loss
-
Abuse and relational trauma
-
Institutional trauma, including experiences within the Troubled Teen Industry
-
Attachment wounds
-
Anxiety and panic symptoms
-
Major life transitions
Clinical Screening and Readiness
EMDR Intensives are not appropriate for every individual or every stage of treatment.
All clients participate in a screening and treatment planning process to determine whether intensive work is clinically indicated. Readiness, safety, and emotional stability are essential components of successful trauma processing.
Clients participating in intensives should:
-
Demonstrate an ability to remain grounded during emotional activation.
-
Possess and utilize coping skills for emotional regulation.
-
Be able to return to a regulated state following distress.
-
Have adequate internal and external supports.
In some cases, individual therapy sessions may be recommended before an intensive is appropriate. Building emotional regulation skills and establishing safety can create a stronger foundation for successful trauma work.
Because every client is unique, recommendations are individualized and based on clinical judgment and readiness.
